Water Demineralization
BlueGold carries out customized designs and implements treatment systems adapted for the demineralization of water for industrial or human consumption purposes for those cases in which, at its origin, the water does not meet the quality standards and properties required for the development of the different purposes where it is intended to be used.
Water Demineralization Processes
The water obtained by extraction from different sources such as rivers, wells or the sea has different proportions of dissolved mineral salts. To achieve an optimal value of salts present in the water and to make it suitable for industrial use, a physical and chemical process adapted to the type of raw water and to the final quality required of the treated water is used.
It is necessary to carry out a correct pretreatment beforehand, since suspended matter and colloidal matter that may be present must be removed from the water to prevent them from damaging the systems.
Electrodeionization (EDI)

Electrodeionization allows us to obtain high purity water (up to 18.2 MΩ/cm) by means of a technology that combines electrodialysis with ion exchange. The passage of the water through resin chambers delimited by ion-selective membranes allows the anions and cations differentiated through the system to be extracted from the flow.
Unlike traditional methods, chemical regeneration is not necessary for this system since all EDI devices work according to electro-regeneration since the resins that compose it are continuously regenerated by the ions released by the dissociation of the water through electricity.

Ion exchange by using resins. Mixed beds


A mixed bed demineralization system based on cationic acid and anionic base resins has the ability to replace the dissolved minerals in the water with hydrogen ions and oxydryl anions and can be regenerated by acid and base. Thanks to the use of a mixed bed system, we obtain a high quality water with a conductivity below 1 microsiemens as well as a silica concentration that can oscillate with maximum values between 0.001 and 0.005 ppm.
It will be necessary to pay special attention to spills, since they are generated during regeneration and are corrosive in nature and must therefore be neutralized.
